What are the responsibilities and job description for the 11/7 nurse Saturday and Sunday position at Columbia Community Care Center?
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to residents throughout the shift.
- Complete thorough shift-to-shift report and review resident care needs.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor residents for changes in condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Complete medication and treatment documentation accurately and timely.
- Perform and document blood glucose checks as ordered.
- Monitor residents for falls, injuries, infections, pain, behavioral changes, and other changes in condition.
- Notify the physician/NP/PA and DON of significant changes in resident condition.
- Follow appropriate procedures for new orders, labs, diagnostic tests, and follow-up appointments.
- Complete required incident reports and follow-up documentation.
- Monitor IVs, wounds, oxygen, catheters, feeding tubes, and other treatments as applicable.
- Complete controlled-substance counts according to facility policy.
- Ensure medication carts and treatment areas remain clean, organized, and secured.
- Complete medication-room refrigerator temperature checks and document results.
- Complete required blood glucose control checks and report discrepancies.
- Monitor emergency equipment and report supplies that need replacement.
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs.
- Supervise CNAs and ensure assigned resident care is completed.
- Conduct rounds and ensure residents are safe, comfortable, clean, and appropriately positioned.
- Monitor completion of toileting, incontinence care, repositioning, hydration, and other CNA duties.
- Communicate important resident information to the oncoming nurse.
- Ensure all documentation is completed before the end of the shift.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA, infection-control, and facility policies.
- Follow all state and federal long-term-care regulations.
