Estimator

Colt Builders is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team in a part-time, hourly capacity, with a clear path to transition into a full-time, salaried role by the end of the year based on performance and business needs.

In this role, you will support Senior Estimators and Regional General Managers (RGMs) by preparing accurate labor and material estimates, helping define project scope, and contributing to successful bid submissions.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work independently to complete assigned project estimates on established deadlines and priority.
• Complete takeoffs for labor and materials using Planswift.
• Submit material list to vendors for pricing.
• Set up cost sheet for Senior Estimator and RGM review.
• Prepare project specific proposal letters that includes scope of work and overall job cost.
• Work through design issues and offer VE alternates as needed.
• Prepare turnover package and collaborate with pre-construction group to thoroughly communicate bid scope, discrepancies and strategy.
• Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. 

Qualifications

• Ability to learn quickly
• Attention to detail and quality focus
• Analytical skills – minimize costs without sacrificing quality
• Knowledgeable in lumber and sheathing grades and species.
• Understands different construction types. (Type 3 & Type 5)
• Decision making ability 
• Documentation skills
• Time management skills, works well with deadlines
• Knowledge / work experience in construction industry
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Working Conditions

This position will start as a part-time, hourly role with flexible scheduling based on workload and project needs. As responsibilities grow, there is a clear path to transition into a full-time position.

Work is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits and travel as needed. Some extended hours or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
