INFOR Systems and Database Specialist

The Infor Applications team at Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to hire a Systems and Database Specialist to join our team. In this job, you will support our technology solutions through maintenance and support, troubleshooting of both in-house developed and Commercial off-the-shelf systems (COTS) deployed on-site and in public and private clouds. Key application systems supported by this position are Infor CloudSuite, Hyperion Planning, Oracle Taleo, and the Project Portfolio Tracking System (PPTS).
Typically, the Systems and Database Specialist performs complex professional-level system application administration, analysis, maintenance, system and data management, configuration, vendor/contract management, and support of applications technologies of new or existing application programs, data, and components. The Systems and Database Specialist acts under general direction to provide the full range of expertise in application maintenance, system, and user support, and will provide guidance, mentorship, and training to less experienced IT employees. This position will provide project activity, program, or vendor coordination for the assigned application area.
A day in the life of a Systems and Database Specialist may include:
- Researching Infor CloudSuite, Hyperion Planning, Oracle Taleo, or PPTS application features, functions, and services to understand best practices for setup, configuration, and appropriate administration of the cloud system
- Managing and administering software systems to ensure high availability, reliability, interconnectivity, and security of the supported business applications in the portfolio and application servers and software above the OS layer, to include patching, monitoring, upgrading, and maintaining cyber compliance
- Administering and troubleshooting Windows Server, IIS knowledge, Oracle/SQL Database, and Infor Data Lake
- Being the SME for application use, functional support, and required business capabilities, including Infor BIRST functionality and administration
- Providing daily and project assistance, guidance, and training to IT staff and business users in the use of the Infor CloudSuite, Hyperion Planning, Oracle Taleo, and PPTS system
- Troubleshooting user issues and system errors when appropriate, including researching the problem, identifying the cause, and working with internal and/or vendor development resources to resolve
- Reviewing, analyzing, and aligning the functional capabilities of the supported systems to business requirements and project needs
- Providing input on future technical directions for the team, including reviewing system designs and coordinating projects or phases of larger projects
- Managing application-related projects, to include requirements assessment, high-level design, effort estimations, and ROI analysis
- Staying abreast of, communicating, and documenting application changes and their resulting impacts on business capabilities
- Planning, creating, improving, and maintaining procedures and documentation related to the administration of software applications, system and architecture design, implementation, and back-out plans, user management, and system release management
Highly Desirable Experience:
- Three to five years of demonstrated experience in application administration, configuration, and troubleshooting cloud and on-premises systems
- System monitoring tools and techniques
- Experience administering and supporting Infor CloudSuite systems, including providing oversight and governance, is highly beneficial
- Excellent communication skills to share knowledge with others and guide users to follow best practices, acting as a trainer and/or consultant with the business users
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field
