Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pain Management Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise in pain management, including acute and chronic pain treatment, and will be instrumental in providing exceptional patient care within a multidisciplinary environment. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history review, with a focus on pain evaluation and management.
- Develop and implement individualized pain management plans utilizing techniques such as injections, Botulinum toxin treatments, and medication therapies while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Administer injections and medications following aseptic techniques, including opioid and non-opioid analgesics, ensuring compliance with DEA regulations.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and data collection.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, interpret diagnostic tests like radiology reports or laboratory results, and adjust treatment strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Provide education on pain management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence to patients and their families.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with current licensure in the state of practice.
- Demonstrated experience in pain management, including acute pain management and procedures such as suturing or injection administration.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to pain medications, CPT coding for procedures, ICD coding for diagnoses (ICD-10), and drug enforcement regulations.
- Experience working within hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers; ICU or critical care experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with advanced clinical procedures including ventilator management, airway management, and diagnostic test interpretation.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their treatment options.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or outpatient clinics.
