Provides exemplary patient care as the medical provider to the pain management patient within the clinic setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
History and Physical Examination
- Conduct patient interview and perform appropriate physical exam to develop the patient’s plan of care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic test results. Provide education to patient regarding results of diagnostic tests.
- Make diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of the pain patient.
- Prescribe therapy and/or medication per practice’s algorithms.
- Perform therapeutic procedures-such as medication injections, immunizations, wound care, trigger point injections, and infection management.
- Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal findings, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
Administrative
- Provide accurate and thorough documentation of the entire office visit in a timely fashion. Note completion expected within 48 hours of office visit.
- Address messages regarding patient complications, and/or medication refills.
- Telephone on-call hours ARE MINIMAL!
Leadership
- Participate in clinical education opportunities
- Serve as preceptor to new hire providers
Compliance
- Maintain licensing and prescribing duties by ensuring renewals and required continued education is completed.
- Practice in a safe and compliant manner, in accordance to practice policies & protocols as well as your state/national regulatory licensing guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience, Knowledge/Understanding
- Master's degree (M. S.) or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years previous PA experience- PREFERABLY IN PAIN MANAGEMENT
- Current unrestricted state licensure as physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner by passing certification exams
- Current DEA
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

- Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor
- Proficient in the use of a PC; in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficient in the use of EHR systems- ECLINICAL WORKS
