ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the monitoring of wells - log water and electrical meters for water production and electrical usage. Keep area clean
- Works with co-workers on maintenance; flushing hydrants, valve exercising, new connections to system, repairs to any system if needed, road patches, storage repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with monitoring pumps - log electric usage, maintenance pressure at 120 psi, grease and secure packing, alternate pumps, maintain proper oil levels in the air compressors and motors. Keep all on record. Keep area clean and maintained.
- Assist with monitoring of chemicals - log usage of chlorine and aquadene (NPACO 216) daily. Place gallon retainers to auxiliary station barrel. Clean injectors and maintain proper speed and stroke on pump meters. Exchange chlorine bottles when empty, disconnect and reconnect bottles to regulator, change filters to keep injectors and solenoids flowing.
- Assist with the weekly and monthly records of water usage and chemical used to assure correct amounts of chlorine and aquadene are being injected.
- Assist with the monthly readings on commercial meters, tabulate correct gallons and apply to rate costs for billing
- Assist in collecting samples from the water system.
- Excavate for water main installations or repairs, braces trenches, lays pipe, fills in ditches, operates and maintains pumping facilities.
- Performs maintenance on pumps and motors
- Operates, maintains and repairs in ground sprinkler system.
- Perform routine maintenance and equipment safety checks.
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
- Water Operator Certification preferred or must be able to pass certification tests to become certified Water Operator
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED is a minimum requirement
Licenses and Certification:
- Current valid state issued driver's license is required for employment
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills. Abilities (KSA's) and Other Qualifications:
- Have basic knowledge of common tools and heavy equipment used in construction maintenance work, basic safety precautions and procedures.
- Works safely and effectively and deals tactfully with the public, customers and other employees
- Ability to work on assigned tasks without supervision.
- Ability to perform strenuous tasks, often for extended periods and/or adverse climatic conditions.
