The GED Director & Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Teacher serves as the instructional and operational leader of the GED program across two campus locations, ensuring high quality programming, strong student outcomes, and full alignment across sites. This role holds primary responsibility for program design, enrollment, persistence, and GED completion outcomes, while directly supervising and evaluating GED program staff and managing key external partnerships.
In addition, this role leads the development, coordination, and implementation of special education services for students with disabilities within the GED program. The Director ensures all Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are compliant, meaningful, and effectively implemented, including facilitating meetings, monitoring progress toward goals, and providing direct support to students in a mild/moderate setting.
Through leadership, data driven decision making, staff development, and student advocacy, the GED Director & ESS Teacher ensures equitable access to education and meaningful progress toward GED attainment and postsecondary success.
Key ResponsibilitiesGED Program Leadership and Oversight:- Serve as the Director of CHSC’s GED program across two campuses, ensuring alignment of programming, instruction, and student supports.
- Establish and monitor program goals related to enrollment, persistence, GED completion, and postsecondary outcomes.
- Lead and own student recruitment and enrollment efforts, including outreach, onboarding systems, and pipeline development.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student retention and completion.
- Directly supervise, coach, and formally evaluate GED program staff, including GED teachers and GED Interventionists.
- Coordinate GED testing readiness, scheduling, and completion processes.
- Ensure consistent implementation of curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment systems across campuses.
- Use data (e.g. GED Ready, IXL, attendance, and completion rates) to drive continuous program improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Zero Dropout partner program, ensuring strong alignment with organizational goals and GED program outcomes.
- Manage the partnership through clear performance expectations, including defined enrollment contributions, student engagement, and completion metrics.
- Coordinate student referral pathways, enrollment processes, and transitions between programs to ensure a seamless student experience.
- Facilitate regular communication, data sharing, and collaboration between internal staff and Zero Dropout representatives.
- Elevate partnership performance concerns and recommend adjustments as needed to ensure program effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain additional partnerships with workforce programs, community colleges, and employers to support student transitions.
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring goals are measurable and appropriate.
- Conduct academic assessments for students as needed through the evaluation process (initials and triennials).
- Coordinate and schedule IEP meetings throughout the year.
- Facilitate IEP meetings with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers.
- Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and adjust supports as needed in a mild/moderate setting.
- Provide direct services and support hours for students with IEPs (small group intervention, co-teaching, etc.).
- Ensure all IEPs are compliant, including meeting the December 1 deadline.
- Coordinate the delivery of special education services within the GED program, including accommodations, modifications, and related services.
- Ensure service minutes are met and documented in alignment with IEPs.
- Oversee implementation of special education curriculum and instructional strategies tailored to diverse student needs.
- Collaborate with district partners (e.g., SEIS) to ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Develop, document, and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both GED program operations and ESS functions to ensure clarity, consistency, and continuity.
- Manage and oversee student learning software platforms (such as IXL, etc.) to support classroom instruction.
- Manage student conduct and safety protocols aligned with school expectations, Restorative Approach philosophy and other district or school requirements or protocols.
- Lead, coach, and evaluate GED teachers and GED Interventionists to ensure high quality instruction and student support.
- Conduct regular observations, feedback cycles, and performance evaluations.
- Provide ongoing professional development on instructional best practices, differentiation, and accommodations for diverse learners.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and student-centered team culture.
- Advocate for equitable access and outcomes for students with disabilities and all GED students.
- Collaborate to develop and maintain clear processes for transitioning students into the GED program, while maintaining proper communication and documentation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead transition planning efforts, including connections to postsecondary education, workforce pathways, and employment.
- Build and maintain relationships with families and external partners to support student success beyond the GED.
- Monitor and analyze student data related to enrollment, attendance, persistence, GED readiness, special education services, and Zero Dropout partnership performance.
- Use data to inform instructional decisions, interventions, and program improvements.
- Prepare reports on program performance, compliance, and student outcomes for school leadership.
- Complete all required school and district trainings in a timely manner.
- Contribute to school wide initiatives that promote student achievement and well being.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the School Leadership Team.
- Valid Colorado teaching license with special education endorsement
- Experience working with secondary students with diverse disabilities
- Demonstrated leadership and staff supervision experience
- Experience managing external partnerships and holding partners accountable to performance metrics (preferred)
- Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
- Ability to analyze data and drive programmatic and instructional decisions
Reports to the Executive Director
Compensation:
The starting salary for this position is between $100,326 - $142,835 annually, depending on education and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
