AXL Academy, a PK-8 public charter school in Aurora, CO, is seeking a dedicated Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Teacher to join our team. This full-time, salaried position plays a vital role in supporting students with disabilities through individualized, equity-based instruction that aligns with our mission of fostering academic growth, character development, and social equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with grade-level standards and IEP goals.
- Facilitate IEP meetings and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.
- Monitor student progress, adjust instructional strategies, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Contribute to a positive school culture by advocating for students and engaging in school-wide events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and valid Colorado teaching license with Special Education endorsement (or equivalent) or willingness to enter an Alternative Licensure program
- CLDE certification (required for teachers hired 2021-22 or later).
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in co-teaching/inclusion models.
- Training in restorative practices and trauma-informed instruction.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
