Position:                                Behavioral Health Clinician

 Classification:                      Non-Exempt  

Reports to:                            Director of Behavioral Health

Location:                               Colorado Health Network; Denver; Colorado 

Starting Salary:                     Starting Salary: Licensed 1-3 years of experience: 27.47 Hourly

                                                                             Licensed 3 years’ experience: 28.85 Hourly

                                                 

Bilingual premium for qualifying languages is 3.5% higher than starting salary if pass bilingual exam on first week of hire.

Position Summary: 
The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for assessing and responding to requests for mental health or substance use/addictions counseling for people living with HIV/AIDS and as well as other underserved individuals. This position helps facilitate counseling services including oversight of, scheduling, admissions, and evaluation.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides individual (short-term) mental health and substance use/addictions counseling or other appropriate interventions in-person and via tele-therapy
  • Support integrated care 
  • Program development for integrated care program 
  • Provide patient navigation and care coordination through assessment, screenings, eligibility of insurance and education as needed. 
  • Provide drop in brief harm reduction counseling during assigned times 
  • In conjunction with other Behavioral Health clinicians and other direct intervention as appropriate
  • Supports the upkeep, tracking and monitoring of client and patient activities in agency database
  • In conjunction with other Behavioral Health staff, maintains network and referral system of prevention, mental health, and addiction treatment options available for clients
  • Demonstrates, abides by, and helps enforce HIPAA regulations amongst staff and departments of agency
  • Acts as a liaison between clients, patients and all relevant professionals, programs and resources
  • Participates and attends staff, department, team and community meetings upon request
  • Performs effectively within organization and interpersonally with co-workers
  • Participates in fund-raising and advocacy events on behalf of the agency
  • Coordinate and maintain an active caseload for new and existing clients 
  • Preform assessments, plan creation, and assist patients with access to medication and adherence to treatment as well

as risk reduction plans

  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring and occasional reporting of patient activities, including access adherence
  • Complete necessary paperwork and data entry in a timely fashion including entering case notes
  • Provide appropriate patient referrals to both internal and external agencies
  • Collect necessary documentation required for program compliance
  • Assist patients as they move through the service delivery system
  • Assist with the elimination of barriers including, but not limited to: insurance, financial housing and transportation
  • Act as a liaison between patient and all relevant professionals, programs, and resources
  • Educate patients and others about HIV disease process and prevention
  • Assist with, and coordinate, community education and outreach initiatives as requested
  • Facilitates group counseling services in-person and via tele-therapy
  • Participates and attends staff, department, team and community meetings upon request
  • Be willing to commute between offices on a set schedule bases
  • Performs effectively within organization and interpersonally with co-workers
  • Support Healthy Aging program and PATH groups
  • Complete needed file audits for and Quality Assurance for outpatient file and group files 
  • Must be able to work in a diverse setting with diverse populations, including persons living with HIV, the LGBTQ community, persons of various ethnic backgrounds, disenfranchised communities.
  • Participation in training related to HIV, substance use, harm reduction, trauma informed care and related issues. Cultural Competency/Sensitivity.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
Minimum one-year experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Must have experience or knowledge regarding HIV and/or other chronic health conditions. Experience working with diverse populations including LGBTQIA2 populations. Experience providing substance use/harm reduction counseling. Ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish preferred.

 

Education:
Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social work required. Active Colorado LAC, LPC or LCSW license strongly preferred. Candidates working towards LAC, LPC, or LCSW licensures with a registration or certification with the Mental Health Section of the Department of Regulatory Agencies and/or an equivalent combination of or education and experience required. Must be willing to work towards licensure fulfillment for Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS or LAC).

 

Software Utilized: 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams is required. Candidates should be comfortable working with client database systems and learning new software tools as needed. 

 

Knowledge, Skill and Ability: 

Must have an applicable understanding and experience with the harm reduction model, stages of change model, and motivational interviewing. Excellent client relations and management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to work well within team environment and overall organizational structure. Previous experience in the delivery of evidenced-based programs is highly preferred, as well as excellent communication, client services, and data collection skills.  The appropriate person will be highly organized and detail-oriented.  This position requires personal and professional accountability; self-management and initiative; dedication to quality improvement; professional integrity; research ethics, and cultural competency.  Must demonstrate accuracy, efficiency and superior organizational skills.  Must demonstrate effectiveness in the following areas: task and time management; teamwork; and communication with teams, managers, clients and participants, and company consultants.

 

 

Material and Equipment Directly Used: 

Works with standard office equipment including computer workstation, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machine. Works with word processing software, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software. Communicates with clients and vendors using the telephone, e-mail, the Internet, and fax.

 

Physical Demands and Work Conditions: 

Works in an office environment. May travel via automobile or airplane to offsite locations or for CHN business. Must have and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and auto insurance on personal vehicle. Works with standard office equipment including computer work station, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machine. Communicates with clients and vendors using the telephone, e-mail, the Internet, and fax.  Requires clear speaking ability and the ability to use a telephone for extended periods. Requires ability to view a computer screen (near acuity). Requires fingering agility for keyboarding.  The ability to sit, stand, and engage in extended periods of screen time or communication by phone is necessary to perform the essential duties of the role.
