Job Summary
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Kiln Room Operator to manage the firing process and ensure all customer pieces are handled with care. This role is essential to studio operations and is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, organization, and working independently.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload kilns safely and efficiently
- Inspect, organize, and prepare customer pieces for firing
- Monitor kiln schedules and firing cycles
- Ensure proper labeling and tracking of all customer items
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kiln room
- Identify and report damaged or defective items
- Follow all safety procedures and studio guidelines
- Assist with inventory of kiln supplies and materials
- Communicate with studio staff regarding order status and timing
- Support overall studio operations as needed
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to follow processes and safety procedures consistently
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
- Previous pottery or kiln experience is a plus, but not required (training provided)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a warm environment
