As our Electrical Estimating Intern, you will shadow an Electrical Solutions Specialist and be an integral part of our procurement process. In this position, you will learn to use estimating and design software in a collaborative environment, to produce cost effective solutions for customers. You will use your engineering intelligence and strong analytical skills to help review project documents, develop estimating strategies, and understand the true costs of building a construction project!
This is a flexible role with full-time hours over the summer and part time hours when classes resume.

What you will do:
- Assist and learn the estimating process for mechanical, plumbing, piping and sheet metal projects
- Collect pre-bid information and perform take-offs
- Produce cost estimates relative to project specifications of mechanical construction projections
- Enter and interpret data for estimating and other preconstruction operations
- Learn from and be challenged by talented industry experts
- Analyze engineering designs and project documents
- Gain knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications
What we are looking for:
- Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, or Computer Science (preferably someone entering junior or senior year)
- Experience with drafting (preferred, but not required)
- Desire to work hard, learn a ton, work with a team, and have fun
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex engineering problems
- Ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations
- Ability to deal diplomatically with internal and external customers
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills, tech savviness, proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability of maintaining a high energy level to handle our dynamic, fast-paced workload
- Possess a valid driver’s license and willing to travel to meet customers/vendors within territory
