Automotive Title Clerk / Office Assistant
Position Overview
The Automotive Title Clerk/Office Assistant is responsible for processing vehicle titles, registrations, and related documentation while providing general administrative support to the dealership’s office operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Title & Registration Processing
- Prepare, process, and submit vehicle titles, registrations, and related documents for new and used vehicles.
- Verify all title documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state and local regulations.
- Follow up with customers, lenders, and the DMV to resolve title issues and ensure timely completion.
- Maintain detailed records of title transactions and inventory.
- Process wholesale deals, trade-ins, and lien releases.
Administrative & Office Support
- Assist with general office tasks, including filing, scanning, data entry, and document organization.
- Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide customer support as needed.
- Support accounting functions such as posting payments, reconciling paperwork, or handling deposits (depending on dealership structure).
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and maintain office supply inventory.
- Assist management with clerical projects and reports.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in office administration is a plus.
- Previous dealership title clerk experience preferred, but general office admin background may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of state title laws and DMV procedures (or willingness to learn).
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and dealership management software (RouteOne, Autosoft).
- Strong communication skills and customer-service mindset.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Work Environment
- Full-time position in a dealership office setting.
- May require occasional overtime during high volume periods.
- Frequent interaction with customers, sales staff, lenders, and DMV personnel.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and handle documents.
- Light lifting (up to 20 lbs) may be required.
Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
