The Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. This position supports culinary operations by ensuring proper sanitation, cleanliness, and organization of the kitchen, dish room, equipment, and storage areas.
Job Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, work surfaces, sinks, and storage spaces.
- Sweep, mop, remove trash, and follow all sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Clean and assist in maintaining kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, hood vents, and refrigerators.
- Ensure all equipment and tools are returned to their designated locations and stored safely.
- Report any maintenance, safety, or repair concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing food and supply deliveries.
- Keep storage areas clean, organized, and properly stocked; rotate stock following FIFO procedures.
- Provide basic support to chefs and kitchen staff as directed.
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain an efficient and positive kitchen environment.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous stewarding or kitchen experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Valid Food Handler certification required within the first 30 days of work.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Background check and drug screen required.
