Synthesis Chemist II

Position Type: Salaried Performance-Based Bonus

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern

Reports to: Vice President of R&D

Summary/Objective:

Support the company by developing new products, supporting existing products, and interacting with customers

Essential Functions

• Conduct bench-scale synthesis to support new product development
• Participate in process improvement and plant trials as required
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing plant
• Consult with quality control department and provide technical input as required
• Write reports on experiments and be able to communicate the results to management and customers
• Innovate new products and processes
• Mentor and develop chemists
• Be able to work and communicate effectively with personnel from quality control, production, marketing, and management
• Interact with sales representatives and customers to address technical issues and explore innovations
• Occasional travel to trade shows or customer visits with sales personnel may be required

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

• Master's degree in chemistry preferred. Bachelor's degree acceptable with appropriate level of experience.
• > 3 years' experience in a chemical laboratory
• Experience in surfactant chemistry synthesis is highly desired
• Experience with epichlorohydrin chemistry is beneficial.
