A niche legal firm with deep roots in Detroit’s automotive retail industry seeks an associate attorney with two to three years’ experience in litigation to work on-site in our Bloomfield Hills office immediately. Competitive compensation and benefits are available. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for exposure to a wide range of civil matters. In addition to litigation, there will be significant exposure to contract review and drafting. The associate attorney will work under the guidance of the firm’s senior attorneys, who continue to pass down the expertise and experience that have fueled our success for more than 115 years. Litigation duties include managing case files, engaging in legal research, preparing motions, pleadings, and other court documents, taking depositions, and representing clients at hearings, mediations, and trials. Transactional duties encompass the life of a contract, from negotiation and drafting to refinement and execution, and include working directly with clients to review, draft, and negotiate contracts, as well as advising businesses on legal, contractual, and risk matters that impact their day-to-day operations. Our ideal candidate will have some exposure to both transactional and litigation practice areas, will possess solid academic credentials and outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal), and will have proven abilities in drafting, analyzing, and negotiating complex contracts. Excellent writing ability is a must. Admission to the Michigan Bar is required; wit and civility are appreciated.
