A well-established Florida insurance defense, insurance regulatory, complex commercial litigation, and business litigation firm, with offices in Sunrise and Tallahassee, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their litigation team in the Sunrise office. This position includes various types of litigation, including first party property insurance defense, insurance bad faith defense, premises liability and personal injury defense, insurance coverage disputes, and commercial litigation.
At least 3 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant or litigation legal secretary is required (and while insurance defense litigation experience is not required, it would be a plus).
Must have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively with in-house attorneys and support staff, opposing counsel, judicial assistants, and clients.
This position involves extensive scheduling and coordination among multiple calendars. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• reviewing documents for deadlines, and monitoring and calendaring same pursuant to confirmed court orders;
• coordinating and scheduling hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials, and assisting attorneys in preparation of same;
• e-filing pleadings, discovery responses, and related documentation;
• assisting with the execution and service of discovery requests and third-party requests for production; and
• preparing and revising legal documents and correspondence.
