Job Purpose 

The Safety Coordinator position is responsible for monitoring safety practices, conducting regular inspections, and implementing safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. The Safety Coordinator will actively engage in creating, updating, and enforcing safety plans, documenting incidents, and communicating regulations to all team members. Compliance with Cal OSHA and related legislation is paramount, requiring meticulous inspections and investigations.


What You'll Do

  • Primarily visit job sites in the Fresno area, with occasional travel to other locations as needed.
  • Assist jobsite supervisory personnel with safety and health compliance through education, training, auditing and implementation of company compliance initiatives and programs
  • Perform safety and compliance inspections daily and throughout working shifts on jobsites, shops, yards, and offices, providing project management, foremen, and other field personnel with recommendations for safety performance improvements and compliance.
  • Conduct periodic in-depth compliance audits of work areas and operations, documenting findings and working with jobsite supervisory personnel to set appropriate timelines to address deficiencies.
  • Complete and manage all aspects of jobsite-specific health and safety paperwork, record keeping, and retention, and assist with Field New Hire paperwork as needed.
  • Submit reports and/or other documentation to the Safety Director by designated deadlines.
  • Administer Safety Committee meetings, actions, and documentation.
  • Manage all jobsite safety training requirements for field personnel.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of safety publications and literature.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox meetings and provide relevant safety information for daily tasks and conditions.
  • Attend and participate in weekly jobsite safety meetings.
  • Train field personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections, and other matters related to implementing safety procedures on jobsites.
  • Respond to employees' safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in Stretch and Flex at the jobsites.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis following any incidents involving company personnel, equipment, or general contractors/other subcontractors.
  • Perform injury and incident management, including direct communication and participation with the Corporate Safety Director for Workers Compensation claims administration.
  • Attend and participate in all General Contractor Safety Meetings and Onsite Insurance Walks.
  • Transport employees to first aid clinics and offsite clinics.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets onsite as needed.
  • Stay abreast of Cal OSHA and other relevant legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Perform any other job-related duties or function as assigned by management.
  • Accountable for leading efforts in implementing continuous improvement initiatives and methodologies to improve processes and increase efficiency.
  • Participate in CECI Continuous Improvement events as needed (ex: JDI, RIE & A3's)
  • Maintain SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for compliance practices and other associated functions.



What You'll Bring

  • Four-year degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
  • Three to five years construction safety experience.
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • OSHA 500 Course-preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficient in conducting safety assessments, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to develop and enforce safety protocols to create a secure work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively convey safety regulations, guidelines, and training to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster a culture of safety awareness and cooperation among team members.
  • Proven experience in documenting safety incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Conduct thorough investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA and related legislation, ensuring compliance in all safety-related activities.
  • Experience in conducting meticulous inspections to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Proactive approach to staying updated on changes in safety regulations and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective safety training sessions for employees.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to tailor training programs to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of occupational health and safety.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess safety risks and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Proactive approach to anticipating potential safety issues and implementing preventive measures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and address safety concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborative mindset to work with department heads and team members to integrate safety measures into daily operations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and partnerships to enhance overall safety culture within the organization.
  • Team player with a commitment to promoting a collaborative and safe working environment.
  • Ability to perform physical inspections in various work environments, identifying potential safety hazards.
  • Comfortable working in different settings and conditions to assess and address safety concerns effectively.

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
