Job Summary:
Provide support for all healthcare simulation operations and work closely with the Collin College Simulation Center and Nursing team, including program faculty to ensure best practices in healthcare simulation are used to enhance student learning. Provides essential technical and audio/visual support for healthcare simulation operations and technology including preparation, maintenance and repair of complex computerized systems and associated software, the operation of the data capture systems, related multimedia, and data collection.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the Simulation Center policies, procedures, best practices, and process improvement.
- Assist with tours and demonstrations in the Simulation Center.
- Participate in healthcare simulation training. Provide support to faculty and staff in the technical aspects of healthcare simulation within the simulation center.
- Assist with programming, technology set-up, testing, and running healthcare simulation scenarios, including equipment, manikins, and standardized patients.
- Program simulator software changes and operate software during simulation activities, either without or with programed scenarios.
- Provide audiovisual support for simulation experiences, including equipment primarily used for live streaming and reviewing simulation activities, video production equipment, computer-based multimedia systems and their components, digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video mixer, and monitors.
- Provide necessary assessment and maintenance of simulators and task trainers with regular cleaning and replacement of disposable parts, including updates and emergency repair.
- Troubleshoot electrical or networking issues (within warranty guidelines), including auditing and testing all healthcare simulation equipment and systems according to current specification requirements.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and record keeping of equipment, supplies, and assets.
- Collaborate with college information technology services to maintain simulation center technology (desktops, laptops, mobile devices), including maintenance and implementation within warranty guidelines.
- Monitor and address equipment malfunctions, ensuring simulators and lab equipment are secure and fully operational.
- Install and upgrade hardware/software, conduct operational checks, perform minor repairs, coordinate vendor support and external repairs, and complete annual preventative maintenance per department guidelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of simulation equipment and demonstrate adaptability and strong communication.
- Serve as the primary contact for equipment repairs, collaborate with the simulation team, generate usage reports for budgeting, and ensure accuracy in supply shipments and acquisitions.
- Provide technical support and maintenance for healthcare simulation technologies.
- Assist with the audit and testing of all healthcare simulation equipment and systems, ensuring they run efficiently according to current specification requirements.
- Maintain personal knowledge and expertise in the use and operation of healthcare simulation technologies.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies specific to simulation-based education
- Maintain expertise in specialized AV technologies, assisting in operation and maintenance.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting, serving as the internal subject matter expert for planning and supporting simulation equipment.

Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Frequent physical effort is required.
Requirements
Associate degree in healthcare, biomedical or related field and two (2) years of experience in medical simulation on the technical level.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in support disciplines such as electronics, engineering, computer information technologies or equivalent.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
Experience with setup, breakdown, moulage of healthcare simulations.
Experience in assessing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware, software, and equipment in an emergent manner.
Working experience and knowledge of Simulation equipment including high fidelity manikins, healthcare simulation equipment and software.
