Performs specialized maintenance work in an assigned section of the Public Utilities Department.
Essential Functions
Performs skilled manual labor work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of utilities within the Meter Services Division, including a variety of manual labor and technical tasks.
- Has knowledge and understanding of the Meter Services Division.
- Completes the maintenance and repair of the County’s Meter systems on multiple platforms, coordinates and completes the installation of new water meters and backflows for new home construction; responds to a variety of customer calls for service with a wide range of technical tools and equipment, lock/unlock customers for non-payment.
- Replaces meters, backflow devices, and meter boxes.
- Test and repair backflow devices and large meter assemblies throughout Collier County.
- Troubleshoot and field verify meter reads within the system.
- Complete meter field audits for accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED* required.
One (1) year of related experience.
Fingerprinting required.
- General Educational Development (GEDs) must be issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED Administrator. For Florida, the approved GED Administrator would be the Florida Department of Education (public schools or adult education centers).
- Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
