What We’re Looking For
- Experience in right of way or real property acquisition
- A strong negotiator with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- A collaborator and problem-solver who works well across teams
- Research and examine title to real property.
- Review real estate appraisals, prepare written offers to purchase real property interests and negotiate with owners to obtain the most favorable terms for the County while still being fair to the property owner. Basic negotiating skills are required.
- Review legal descriptions and construction plans and explain to property owners, lenders, and attorneys exactly what the County intends to construct on the required property, and what impact it will have on the remaining property.
- Draft purchase agreements, executive summaries, exhibits and agenda items for consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.
- Determine and prepare the appropriate legal documents to clear title and complete the conveyance of real property interests. Basic knowledge of property law is a plus.
- Some field work outside the office is required to inspect properties and to meet with property owners and their representatives.
Additional Functions
- Serves on committees and task forces as assigned.
- Performs general clerical work in support of assigned duties, including answering telephones, copying, and filing documents.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Associate degree required.
- Two (2) years of related experience performing administrative and technical work for property acquisition, sales, leasing, appraisals, or similar programs, such as paralegal.
- Candidates without a degree should possess two (2) additional years of related experience.
- Fingerprinting Required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
- Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
