Primary Purpose

The District Behavior Coordinator provides districtwide leadership to design, implement, monitor, and continuously improve the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavior. This position builds district and campus capacity to improve school conditions for student learning by supporting evidence-based behavioral frameworks and prevention-focused discipline practices. The coordinator works collaboratively with district leaders, campus administrators, and educators to ensure consistent, equitable, and effective implementation of behavioral systems aligned to district priorities and identified needs. This position is a capacity-building role focused on systems, professional learning, and implementation fidelity.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Master’s degree in education, leadership focus preferred
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

  • Ability to provide high quality large and small group professional development
  • Knowledge of and ability to assist teams in development of targeted, systemic program improvement plans
  • Ability to serve as a facilitator for a variety of strategies and methodologies applicable in educational settings 
  • Knowledge of school climate, SEL, and prevention-focused discipline frameworks
  • Strong data analysis and systems level problem solving skills
  • Effective and positive communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team-building skills
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adjust to change in a positive manner

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • 3 years of team leader experience or the equivalent thereof
  • Experience in training and mentoring/coaching adults
  • Experience supporting campus and district implementation of evidence based practices
  • Experience in district level leadership or coordinator (preferred)
  • Experience in providing professional learning or coaching to educators

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

A. Districtwide Behavior System Leadership

  • Lead the development, refinement, and sustainability of the district’s behavior framework, ensuring alignment with district goals, campus needs, and evidence based practices.
  • Support campuses in implementing consistent, prevention focused behavioral systems that improve school climate and reduce exclusionary discipline practices.
  • Coordinate district behavior initiatives to ensure coherence across campuses and grade levels.
  • Support alignment of behavioral systems with social emotional learning and student mental/behavioral health initiatives.

B. Implementation Monitoring, Evaluation, and Accountability

  • Develop and oversee processes to monitor implementation of behavior practices at the campus level.
  • Analyze district and campus discipline and behavior data (e.g., referrals, removals, disproportionality indicators) to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Support campuses in using data for continuous improvement and problem solving related to school climate and student behavior.
  • Prepare district-level summaries and reports related to behavior implementation and outcomes for leadership review.

C. Campus and District Capacity-Building

  • Facilitate district and campus collaboration related to behavior systems implementation and sustainability.
  • Support campus leadership teams in strengthening structures, routines, and systems that promote safe and supportive learning environments.
  • Serve as a district resource for evidence-based behavioral frameworks and prevention oriented discipline practices.

D. Professional Learning and Coaching

  • Design and deliver job embedded professional learning for teachers and administrators related to classroom behavior management, behavior systems implementation, and data-informed decision-
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to educators to strengthen implementation of proactive, evidence based behavioral strategies.
  • Collaborate with district departments to ensure professional learning aligns with district requirements for high quality professional learning.

Explicitly Excluded Duties (To maintain federal compliance)

The District Behavior Coordinator does not:

  • Serve as a disciplinary authority or administrator
  • Provide direct student behavioral interventions
  • Manage or enforce student discipline consequences
  • Fulfill state-mandated discipline compliance functions

 

Evaluation and Accountability

Performance will be evaluated based on:

  • Improvement in district and campus behavior systems implementation with fidelity
  • Effective use of data to support continuous improvement
  • Increased consistency and alignment of behavioral systems across campuses
  • Contribution to improved school conditions for student learning

The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.  There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress.  The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Predictable and regular attendance expected.
