About College Persistence Coalition
The College Persistence Coalition (CPC) works at the intersection of K-12 and higher education, helping schools and colleges better support students through critical academic transition points. Founded by educator and systems leader Pagee Cheung, CPC partners with schools, colleges, and faculty to strengthen instructional practice, improve student outcomes, and create more coherent pathways from high school through college completion.
At the center of this work is CPC's Gateway Math Initiative, which brings together high school educators and college faculty to improve outcomes in gateway math courses, one of the earliest and most significant predictors of college persistence.
As CPC enters an important stage of growth, the organization is seeking a Managing Director, School Partnerships to help lead, strengthen, and scale this work across New York.

- Capture lessons learned and codify best practices
- Develop tools, resources, and systems that support future growth

- Help shape how CPC measures impact and scales its work over time
Key Priorities for the First Year
- Establish trusted relationships with school leaders, teachers, and higher education partners across CPC's network
- Support strong implementation of the Gateway Math Initiative and achievement of ambitious student success outcomes
- Develop systems and practices that strengthen program quality and support future growth
- Help build the operational and instructional infrastructure necessary for CPC to scale its impact
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Founder and Executive Director
Leadership and Competency Expectations
Instructional Leadership & Expertise
Competitive candidates will likely bring experience as an Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Math Department Chair, Network Academic Leader, instructional coach, or comparable school-based leadership role.
Coaching & Capacity Building
Regardless of title, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of coaching educators, improving instructional practice, and influencing outcomes beyond their own classroom.
Influence & Relationship Management
The successful candidate will be equally effective in classrooms, school leadership meetings, and higher education settings. They will be able to provide meaningful instructional feedback, build trust with school leaders, facilitate learning with educators, and earn credibility with college faculty and external partners.
Entrepreneurial Mindset & Ownership
CPC is still building many of the systems, tools, and structures that will support future growth. The successful candidate will be energized by that reality rather than discouraged by it. They will bring initiative, sound judgment, adaptability, and a willingness to help build alongside the organization's founder.
