Instructor of Visual Arts (Grades 1-12) – School of the Ozarks, a laboratory school
of College of the Ozarks, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in
visual art instruction. Starting date is August 2026 with some required training
dates in the summer; rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and
experience. Masters degree or higher preferred but not required. Primary
responsibility would include classroom management and implementing a 1st – 12th
grade art curriculum in a classical Christian school. One or two exhibitions per
year at both the upper and lower schools, as well as competitions for secondary
grades are expected. The position is considered a College of the Ozarks faculty
position, teaching in the laboratory school under the direction of the dean, Dr.
Brad Dolloff.

The ideal candidate will have a vibrant and growing relationship with Christ, a
commitment to personal Christian study and growth, as well as an understanding
of and a desire to promote classical Christian education. Additionally, the
individual should possess the ability to build strong positive relationships with
students (1-12), their parents, and other faculty members. An understanding of
the influence of the visual arts on Western Culture and the ability to discuss the
history of art while instructing students in developing their artistic abilities is
ideal.

The successful candidate must embrace the College and School’s Christ-centered
mission and demonstrate excellence in teaching students as well as a
commitment to serving as a mentor and positive role model. Primary
responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Personal commitment to prayer, Bible study, and the local church.
  • An understanding of the classical Christian educational model.
  • Commitment to continued study and development of classical
Christian education.
  • The ability to build relationships with students, faculty, staff, and
parents.
  • The desire to disciple and contribute to the development of
students.
  • The ability to model excellent teaching within the classical Christian

model.

  • A working knowledge and the ability to teach visual arts concepts
within a framework of historical discoveries through the lens of a
Christian worldview.
  • Participate in and present at classical Christian education
conferences.
  • Participate in an annual classical Christian education training hosted
by School of the Ozarks.
  • Act as a resource for parents, teachers, and students.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


School of the Ozarks is a classical Christian school on the campus of College of the
Ozarks, a liberal arts, work-study college with a commitment to evangelical
Christian faith and service located in southwest Missouri near Branson
