Job Purpose
The Assistant Athletic Director of the Charleston Athletic Fund assists in all Athletics-related fundraising, including the Cougar Club annual scholarship fund, sport-specific giving, capital and planned giving, and more. Primary responsibilities revolve around the cultivation and stewardship of Cougar Club annual scholarship fund donors, including the coordination of Premium Seating programs, Donor Hospitality, and other donor benefits.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and related experience required. Master’s preferred. Experience in collegiate athletics development or other non-profit or university fundraising, or sales, preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have current knowledge of NCAA Athletics and athletic fundraising strategies. Must be highly skilled in developing long-term, productive relationships with members, potential donors and the public. Must have strong written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy with Word, Excel, Raisers’ Edge, and Social Media.

Additional Comments Regarding Position
Attendance at all home men’s basketball games as well as selected games/competitions of other athletic teams throughout the year is required. Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends. Some travel is required.

    1. Manages all operations for the CAF (Charleston Athletic Fund) Annual Fund, which raises over $2 million per year. Crafts and administers Strategic Fundraising Plan for the Annual Fund that is focused on increasing membership and revenue. Actively cultivates, solicits and stewards gifts for the CAF annual scholarship fund and sport-specific funds. Increases the giving levels of current CAF members. Identifies, cultivates and solicits gifts from prospects. Executes a specific number of donor visits as agreed upon by the Executive Director of the CAF. Oversees other targeted fundraising initiatives designed to grow membership within the CAF.

    2. Accurately facilitates the implementation of benefits to CAF members to include fulfillment of ticket, hospitality and parking privileges. Serves as Coordinator of Premium Seating to include the Legacy Seat program, Courtside Seating and Box Seating. Oversees various donor correspondence including regular email newsletters and communication during pledge renewal process. Provides a high level of customer service and stewardship via phone, email and in person to donors & prospects at every giving category.

Works collaboratively with internal and external campus partners, including the CAF Board of Directors, regional volunteers, and the College’s Division of Institutional Advancement, to grow interest and engagement in Charleston Athletics. Oversees special fundraising events throughout the year.
