What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Pianist position at College Heights Baptist Church?
Summary: Collaborates with the Music Leader to implement God-focused and Christ honoring worship services at College Heights Baptist Church.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Music Leader or Pastor on order of worship and songs for worship.
- Play the piano every Sunday during College Heights 11:00 a.m. worship service, including a prelude and postlude, offertory and communion music.
- Arrive early to rehearse music before service on Sunday or at an agreed upon alternate time.
- Select appropriate instrumental prelude, postlude, offertory and communion pieces for each week.
- Play the piano for special worship services during holidays, such as Christmas or Easter services.
- Optional: Play the piano for wedding and funeral services with additional compensation.
- Coordinate with the Music Leader or Pastor so that a substitute can be scheduled on dates when the pianist is not available.
Qualifications:
- Experience and proficiency in playing piano in ministry contexts. Will consider other experience as is appropriate.
- Comfortable with a variety of musical styles, including both classical and contemporary music and traditional church hymns.
- Familiarity with church culture and comfortable working in a church environment.
- Flexible and able to work well with other paid staff and volunteer members.
- Mental and physical fitness sufficient to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
This is a part-time position based in Cleburne, TX, with an estimated commitment of 3-4 hours per week. Salary is based on experience. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume.
