Vice President of Sales – Handbags

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Sales to lead and grow our Handbags Division. This role is ideal for a senior sales leader with deep experience in handbags, strong retail relationships, and a proven ability to scale businesses across off-price and full-price channels.
The VP of Sales will be responsible for driving revenue growth, shaping go-to-market strategy, and partnering cross-functionally with design, production, and merchandising to deliver commercially successful handbag assortments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sales strategy and execution for the Handbags Division across off-price and select full-price channels
- Own top-line revenue growth, account strategy, and annual sales planning
- Build, manage, and deepen relationships with key retail partners and buyers
- Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Production, and Merchandising to influence assortments, costing, and product direction
- Translate consumer trends, retail feedback, and selling data into actionable product and sales strategies
- Drive assortment planning, including style mix, color flow, pricing architecture, and margin alignment
- Negotiate pricing, volume, and margin targets with retail partners
- Oversee forecasting, budgeting, projections, and sales performance tracking
- Identify and execute growth opportunities including new accounts, programs, private label initiatives, and category expansion
- Support launch of new brands, licenses, and handbag programs from concept through first order
- Lead, mentor, and develop sales team members, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture
- Partner with Operations and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth execution of shipments, inventory flow, and delivery priorities
Qualifications & Experience
- 12 years of progressive sales experience within handbags or accessories
- Proven success scaling multi-million-dollar handbags businesses
- Established relationships with major retailers
- Strong understanding of handbag product development, costing, and margin structure
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally to drive commercial, trend-right product
- Track record of launching and growing new handbag programs, brands, or private-label initiatives
- Strong analytical skills with ability to forecast, plan, and manage budgets
- Hands-on leader who can operate strategically while staying close to the business
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PLM and ERP systems a plus
