Brief Description
The Bar Captain is a floor-leading bartender responsible for setting the tone, pace, and standards of the bar

Primary Responsibilities
Service Leadership
- Lead service from behind the bar while maintaining a calm, professional, guest-first demeanor
- Set service pace and standards during peak periods
- Act as point person for bartenders and barbacks during shifts
- Support floor teams to maintain overall restaurant flow
- Ensure consistent execution of recipes and beverage quality
- Assist guests with menu selections and elevate the experience through hospitality and product
- Protect the tone and culture of Sister Ship’s hospitality
- Close the bar two nights per week, ensuring:
- Full breakdown and cleaning
- Accurate cash handling and reporting
- Restock and readiness for next service
- Completion of nightly closing notes
- Maintain bar organization and cleanliness standards at all times
- Uphold DOH and alcohol service compliance
- Continue to echo proper pour standards, monitor product usage, and communicate inventory
- Lead beverage inventory counts
- Build and manage the bar-back prep schedule
- Assign prep responsibilities and verify completion
- Ensure daily mise-en-place readiness (juices, batching, garnish, ice wells, glassware)
- Train and coach barbacks into future bartenders
- Support onboarding and training of new team members
- Maintain recipe books and standards documentation
- Act as a reliable leadership presence for the bar team
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback during service
- Communicate service notes to management
- Help maintain a positive and accountable work environment
- Lead by example in urgency, professionalism, and care
