Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Peer Support Specialist to provide community-based support to individuals and families in the post-crisis phase or following abehavioral health challenge event. This role focuses on engagement, skill-building, and connection to resources through lived experience and peer support.
The ideal candidate has personal lived experience with mental health, substance use, or navigating systems of care and is able to use that experience to support others in their recovery. This position includes in-person, community-based support, along with collaboration with clinical team members and community partners to promote stabilization and long-term success.
Key ResponsibilitiesPeer Support Services
- Provide strengths-based peer support to individuals and families in the post-crisis phase or following a behavioral health challenge event
- Utilize lived experience to build rapport, instill hope, and support recovery and resiliency
- Assist clients in developing coping skills, daily living skills, and self-advocacy
Community-Based Support
- Meet with clients in home and community settings to provide ongoing support and engagement
- Assist individuals and families in accessing, coordinating, and navigating community resources
- Reinforce progress and support continued stabilization in the post-crisis phase or following a behavioral health challenge event
Collaboration & Care Coordination
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support client goals and service plans
- Communicate regularly with therapists, case managers, and other providers
- Support individuals and families in navigating systems of care during the post-crisis phase or following a behavioral health challenge event
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete timely and accurate documentation of services provided in accordance with organizational standards
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality in all interactions
Professional Development
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training opportunities
- Maintain certification requirements and stay informed on best practices in peer support
Travel
- Travel locally to provide services in home and community-based settings
- Utilize a personal vehicle for work-related travel (mileage reimbursement provided)
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program needs and client care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in behavioral health or human services preferred
- Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in Colorado or willingness to obtain certification within required timeframe
- Lived experience with mental health, substance use, or navigating behavioral health systems
- Ability to use lived experience appropriately and effectively in a professional setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Knowledge of community resources and support systems preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel locally
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
