Sorter – Laboratory Specimens

Location: Gretna, LA 70053
Pay Rate: $14.00/hour – Paid Weekly
Schedule: Monday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM | Tuesday–Friday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
Position Type: Temp-to-Hire

Earn $800 in Bonuses! Receive a $400 bonus at 30 days and another $400 at 90 days, provided there are no attendance or performance issues.

Job Responsibilities

• Receive, open, and sort laboratory specimens for testing.
• Organize specimens into designated bins and deliver them to the appropriate departments.
• Process courier deliveries and store specimens in assigned areas.
• Review specimens and chain-of-custody forms for acceptability.
• Inspect trash bags after sorting to ensure all samples and documents have been removed.
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory accessioning area.
• Assist with freezer cleanouts and specimen disposal.
• Follow security procedures to protect confidential donor information.
• Comply with company policies and laboratory procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated areas and freezers reaching -20°C.
• Ability to climb stairs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Basic communication skills and ability to follow laboratory procedures.
• Ability to follow confidentiality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Must be able to work around potential hazardous materials.

Work Environment

Climate-controlled office and laboratory setting, with occasional work in refrigerated and freezer areas.
