Job Summary:
The Automation Technician II supports the construction, assembly, and repair of automation equipment used in manufacturing operations. This role requires strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret schematics and assembly drawings, and the capability to work with electrical and pneumatic systems. The technician will collaborate closely with engineers and technical teams to ensure equipment is built accurately and maintained to support production needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and assemble automation equipment and manufacturing fixtures
• Construct mechanical assemblies with a high level of mechanical depth
• Layout and wire electrical control panels
• Assemble and troubleshoot pneumatic circuits
• Troubleshoot and repair automation and manufacturing equipment
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve build and assembly issues
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings
• Verify part dimensions using precision measuring devices
• Install and solder electronic components and hardware
• Maintain task discipline to meet project timelines
Required Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED
• At least one year of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or automation assembly, or completion of an approved trade school program
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to build assemblies using mechanical drawings
• Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics
• Ability to work with electrical systems ranging from 5 VDC to 480 VAC
• Experience troubleshooting instrumentation devices and control panel wiring
• Proficiency using machining equipment such as drill press and band saw
• Experience with hand tools and power tools
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic components
• Willingness to work overtime to meet build schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a regulated or manufacturing environment
