Title: Azure Devops Architect.
Duration - Full-time - 5 times a week onsite
Salary - $140,000 - $160,000 yearly base (depending upon interview and experince) FTE benefits
Location: San Diego, CA
Why is this open: Client’s cloud partners are going through a transformation where they need an enterprise level architect to drive the day to day ops.
Mission: To provide strategic and technical leadership for complex, large-scale cloud transformation initiatives, with a primary focus on MS Azure and modern DevOps practices.
Day to Day:
- They are looking for an Azure Devops Architect who will be responsible to Architect and govern end-to-end Azure DevOps and cloud platform solutions, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), security controls, monitoring, and release management.
- To Define, maintain, and evolve reference architectures, design patterns, and standards for Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Azure-native services to support reuse across client engagements. To Provide architectural oversight and technical direction to Azure DevOps Developers and implementation teams, ensuring solutions meet scalability, reliability, and security best practices.
- To lead DevSecOps strategy, embedding security, compliance, identity, and risk management controls into pipelines and infrastructure designs from the outset. To Collaborate with Solution Architects and client stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into actionable architectures and delivery roadmaps.
- To Establish and enforce CI/CD governance standards, including branching strategies, artifact management, quality gates, approvals, and release policies.
- To Review and approve infrastructure designs, pipeline configurations, and automation frameworks prior to implementation to ensure architectural integrity.
- To Guide migration strategies from legacy and on-premises environments to Azure, including hybrid and multi-cloud architectures where applicable.
Must Haves:
- Expert-level knowledge of Azure DevOps Services, including Azure Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, and Artifacts.
- 7 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure architecture roles.
- 5 years of experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale CI/CD and IaC solutions.
- Deep expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, including module design, state management, and environment strategy.
- Strong experience integrating security, compliance, and identity controls into cloud and DevOps architectures.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python.
- Proven experience in client-facing architectural leadership, including requirements discovery, solution design, and executive-level communication.
- Strong knowledge of MS Azure platform services and the MS 365 ecosystem.
Plusses:
- MS Azure Architect Expert certification (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated leadership in DevSecOps within regulated, enterprise, or high-compliance environments.
- Experience defining and implementing enterprise governance models, including landing zones, Azure Policy, RBAC, cost management, and security baselines.
