Responsibilities
- Assist in training dogs using positive reinforcement & balanced techniques tailored to each dog's needs and temperament
- Schedule and manage private one-on-one lessons in the community or at the Training Center in Gettysburg
- Return phone calls, tex messages, and emails to dog training inquiries
- Social media posting
- Be able to accommodate dogs in your home in a board and train space (this is a plus- but not required)
- Handle dogs safely and confidently during training sessions, ensuring proper restraint and control
- Observe dog behavior closely to identify signs of stress or discomfort and adjust training methods accordingly
- Educate pet owners on effective training practices, behavior modification, and ongoing care routines
- Maintain detailed records of training progress, behaviors observed, and client interactions
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both dogs and clients
Skills
- Passion for animal care with a focus on dog training and behavior modification (will train as an apprentice position)
- Experience with dog handling, animal restraint, pet care, or kennel work is highly valued
- Comfortable with technology and social media
- Good communication skills by phone and in person
- Veterinary experience such as veterinary technician or assistant background is a plus for understanding animal health needs
- Strong animal handling skills including patience, confidence, and gentle restraint techniques
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
