What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech III / Plumber position at Colby-Sawyer College?
Under the supervision of both the Trades Supervisor and Director of Facilities Management, the Maintenance Tech III / Plumber performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of boilers, heating and water piping, traps, valves, drains, sprinklers, radiators and sewerage systems to maintain CSC facilities in proper working condition. The plumber will help supervise and oversee contractors and interact heavily with all trade's personnel as well as the project manager. The position is required to participate in snow removal operations, as well as in other maintenance capacities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, maintain, install, and troubleshoot plumbing systems at the college.
- Inspect and certify that all work complies with state and local codes.
- Work on plumbing related issues and equipment throughout the campus.
- Heavily interact with Trades Supervisor and Director of Facilities on projects and resolving any problems.
- Plan, estimate, and commission new installations or renovations of plumbing needs and equipment.
- Work with sub-contractors on major upgrades, repairs, renovations, and office reconfigurations while maintaining health and safety standards as well as code compliance.
- Assist in training of new personnel as well as support other team members with completion of work orders when necessary.
- Mandatory on call for snow and working with snow crew in the winter, plowing with CSC equipment, shoveling and salting walkways and clearing roofs/roof scuppers.
- Work, troubleshoot and complete other work-related issues in Facilities Management.
- Complete all assigned Facilities Management work orders and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely and accurate manner regardless of the task assigned.
- General maintenance as required such as light carpentry, painting, moving furniture, minor electrical, changing light bulbs, checking life safety equipment and occasionally operating grounds equipment when needed.
