Summary

To develop and implement a college-wide program of integrated services designed to assist and coach our diverse population of students to find their true academic and vocational interests, prepare students for entry into the workplace, and to discover further educational opportunities after graduation. Serve as coordinator for all services provided through the Harrington Center for Experiential Learning. The position plays a key liaison role between students in need of career preparation and development services and the support network available to them (faculty, staff, graduate schools, internship sites, health & counseling, library, residential education, etc.). The Harrington Center also has oversight of coordinating vocational and community engaged learning efforts across the campus. Position reports to Academic Vice President.

Essential Job Functions

  •                      Establish and implement a campus-wide plan for a Career Preparation Program, integrating academic and co-curricular support services, so that career education is understood and utilized across the curriculum whenever possible.
  •                      Serve as contact person for all students, staff, and faculty on issues concerning career preparation and development, including the identification of aptitudes, obstacles, and services available. Receive, process and/or assign, and track all requests for information, equipment, service, or technical assistance.
  •                      Direct strategic planning process for department and ensure implementation and achievement of departmental goals and programmatic changes.
  •                      Create and maintain intuitive website of all services for students, alumni, faculty, and employers.
  •                      Maintain processes and function of online career tool Handshake including posting jobs, events and career development tools for students and alumni.
  •                      Require knowledge of Career Development resources in use at CSC (assessment tools such as FocusV2) in addition to online-related resources such as ONET, and local and national Labor Market Information and Resources (such as https://www.nhes.nh.gov/elmi/).
  •                      Lead faculty and other college personnel in a consolidated effort to integrate career services, vocational learning and community engaged learning into classroom and co-curricular experiences.
  •                      Provide services, training and resources to faculty and staff to assist in their support of student professional development and academic outcomes.
  •                      Provide data to all departments for program reviews including statistical data on graduate employment/education placements and rates and internship placements and outcomes. (Specifically collecting data and producing the annual six-month Post-Graduate Survey, receiving help with survey distribution from the alumni office.)
  •                      Develop relationships and partnerships with local and national institutions and industries for cooperative internship ventures. Assure proper documentation (review for ethical and legal issues) before internship approvals, and monitor personal and professional progress throughout internship experience. Establish methods for evaluating qualitative and statistical success of internship program.
  •                     Maintain current online library and web resources of jobs, internship possibilities, graduate schools, alumni network with partnership with alumni office, and other career resources.
  •                     Oversee and assure establishment of individual career plans for each student seeking employability skills, coordinating with faculty, academic advisors, and internship sites as needed. Incorporate career development models where appropriate in career coaching. Special attention to providing one-on-one service to all BOLD Scholars every semester.
  •                      Develop effective methods and materials for marketing and promotion of the Harrington Center and its services.
  •                     Program management for all career development related programming on campus associated with the Harrington Center, including instruction of INT010 each spring.
  •                     Perform general project management tasks associated with Career Services department. May include project tracking, ordering of goods and services, serving as liaison with other departments, clerical functions, and departmental reporting.
  •                     Maintain basic understanding of technology available to students and keep current on best practices at CSC.
  •                     Hire, train, supervise, and monitor performance of Career Development professional and support staff.
  •                     Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information/materials for department.

ADDITIONAL* BOLD DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

(As guided by BOLD Women’s Leadership Network and the Helen Gurley Brown Foundation)

Primary Responsibilities:

  •             Meet with BOLD Scholars at least once per month as a group to provide guidance with respect to   leadership, career development and networking
  •            Provide mentoring and support to individual BOLD Scholars as needed, minimum of once per semester
  •            Design, plan and attend annual BOLD retreat for CSC BOLD Scholars
  •            Oversee balance of budget and expenses for BOLD, provide periodic updates of budget lines as needed
  •            Gather evidence regarding program effectiveness
  •            Coordinate communication among relevant offices of CSC engages with BOLD support and programming
  •            Plan and hold meetings with BOLD Advisory Group and campus Lead, at least once per semester
  •            Produce annual report to the Foundation with Lead and President’s final approvals.
  •            Attend annual retreat with Leads and Directors from BOLD Schools
  •            Work with Scholars requesting internship grants
  •            Assist Scholars who wish to apply for a post-graduate fellowship, host presentations with BOLD Advisory Group and make awards
  •            Manages fellowships for following year for each post-grad BOLD fellow (and sometimes other HGB   Foundation fellows)
  •           If you are a part-time BOLD director on your campus, the oversight of a part-time BOLD assistant
