Brief Description
The Senior Manager works collaboratively within a team of highly qualified Performance Transformation consultants to deliver performance improvement for healthcare organizations. This position will be primarily responsible for performing billable work for clients. The role of the Senior Manager is to provide leadership by driving engagement results, managing client relationships, managing engagement resources, overseeing development of client deliverables and solutions, overseeing implementation, managing risks and issues, managing engagement logistics and economics, and supporting business development opportunities.
This position has oversight for engagements of all sizes and durations, which includes accountability for the quality of results, engagement profitability, and client satisfaction. The Senior Manager delivers consulting services while supervising, mentoring, and developing staff. The Senior Manager serves as subject matter expert on engagements as needed. This position will also participate in sales and business development activities including sales calls, RFP responses, orals, statements of works preparation, etc. This position will collaborate with and develop strong client relationships across all levels of the client organization including clinical staff, physicians, and administrative leadership to meet engagement objectives.

The Senior Manager is required to participate in and lead Coker internal activities including practice development, required and approved educational opportunities and learning the various technologies, methods and processes necessary for the completion of their work for clients. Additionally, the Senior Manager should:
- Maintain utilization targets for client billable projects.
- Create value through meaningful client relationship management, solution development and implementation delivery.
- Create a positive team environment by enriching staff skills and knowledge and creating a productive and collaborative environment.
- Create value through meaningful participation to grow and enrich the Practice as a whole or individual Service Area within the Practice.
- Actively participate in add-on sales activities and new sales business development opportunities.
- Execute/direct/oversee all aspects of the client engagement including client relationship management, analytical oversight, quality assurance and deliverable development.
- Manage the budget and expenses for their assigned engagements and manage the engagement profitability.
- Manage staff assigned to their engagements including providing mentoring, education for staff, and project evaluations.
- Execute/direct/oversee data analyses, initiate interpretations and recommendations, and oversee verbal, written, and graphic presentations that communicate strategy and outcomes in accordance with the SOW and the needs of the client.
- Oversee clinical initiatives for the practice and provide guidance and quality assurance for practitioners working on those initiatives across all projects.
- Assist in building out the clinical supplies and clinical variation product lines for the practice.
- Effectively execute on engagement plans in accordance with the statement of work and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Effectively engage with clients in a professional and responsible manner representing Coker and our work in an ethical manner.
- Participate in risk and issue identification and mitigation along with the engagement leadership team.
- Participate and lead practice development activities.
- Participate and/or lead Practice-wide activities within Performance Transformation.
- Participate and lead methodology and tool development within their Service Area.
- Mentor and counsel staff within the Practice.
- Actively listen for market opportunities on current engagements, and network and communicate potential leads to leadership.
- Contribute to the development of sales presentation deliverables, leverage Acuvance/Coker tools as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Complete training requirements on an annual basis as requested.
- Aid in developing training materials in their Service Area or in the Practice in their areas of expertise.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university – Required
- Master’s degree and/or additional certifications (RN, MBA, ASA, ABV, CVA, CFA, CPA, etc.) - Preferred
- 7 years of applicable experience in Supply Chain, Health Systems Finance, Operations (clinical, support or operations), Pharmacy, Operational or Strategic Consulting, Strategic Planning or Decision Support Analytics – Required
- Demonstrated depth of knowledge in a specific area of expertise (i.e., Subject Matter Expert in clinical related areas)
- Ability to build, maintain and grow client relationships
- Coordinate and deliver effective presentations (verbal and written) to client audiences to communicate engagement outcomes, recommendations, and strategy
- Ability to conduct thorough and relevant analyses and oversee and mentor others in the production of client deliverables on time and on budget against the Statement of Work
- Ability to mentor and grow team members within the Practice and Service Area
- Ability to lead work groups to successful outcomes
- Ability to manage their time effectively and the time of others on their workstream as needed
- Ability to quality assure other people’s work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to execute good judgement as to when to make decisions versus consult with leadership
- Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement
- Proven ability to successfully manage Supply Chain margin improvement engagements and ability to facilitate difficult initiatives with clinicians and physicians.
- Proven ability to provide guidance and critical insight to others on the team in both clinical and purchased services initiatives. Able to provide risk mitigation management on the initiatives and guide on crucial conversations with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to guide negotiation strategies and be on the negotiation team with the client as needed to negotiate on their behalf with suppliers for favorable pricing, terms and overall value.
- Be able to understand and guide the supply chain team in the successful overall attainment of the SOW goals for their workstream and in the cross-over workstreams where initiatives may intersect.
- This position requires travel 70% or more
- Candidates with actual healthcare Supply Chain provider, GPO or Distributor experience are preferred
