The Securities Litigation and Investor Protection Practice Area seeks to hold corporations accountable by exposing and fighting corporate fraud and other malfeasance. We act as private attorneys general enforcing provisions of the federal securities laws, and work to reform corporate governance through shareholder derivative suits. We represent investors in several notable cases, which offer a unique opportunity to advance the public good while working in a private-sector setting. Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of litigation experience preferred
• Strong academic credentials; clerkship experience a plus
• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently
• Capacity to work in a professional manner and flourish in a fast-paced work environment

Responsibilities:

• Take a substantial role in researching and writing complaints and briefs
• Play a strong supportive role in discovery
• Efficiently organize and administer details as it relates to case management assignments
• Supervise paralegals in litigation related tasks; among other responsibilities

Cohen Milstein is eager to develop the next generation of securities lawyers and does not require candidates for this position to have a background in securities law or finance. The position is preferably based in our Washington, D.C. office, but the group is open to having an associate work in our New York office. Candidates must be an active member of the State Bar where the employment is based. If not yet a member of the bar, candidates need to be eligible and willing to apply for membership within 90 days of employment at the firm.

We offer a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The expected annual salary range (excluding bonus) for this position is between $161,000-$175,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors. You will be eligible to receive a year-end bonus, the issuance and amount of which are discretionary and dependent upon the Firm's profitability.
