Position: Social Studies Teacher (Grades 9–12)
Location: Stow, Massachusetts, Masters Academy International
Start Date: August 1, 2026
Masters Academy International
Masters Academy International is New England’s only school that combines top-tier sports and academics to prepare future leaders who excel in athletics, academics, and life. At Masters Academy International, academics aren’t placed between training sessions—they are a vital part of developing an elite performer. We’ve created a curriculum that respects the demands of our athletes without sacrificing intellectual rigor. Students are challenged through engaging coursework, grounded in inquiry, which encourages healthy disagreement and debate and emphasizes quality over quantity.
MAI’s academic program aims to strike a balance between well-being and learning for our student-athletes, helping them develop not only knowledge but also the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their education and nurture the critical and creative thinking skills required to understand and solve global challenges. As a result, our students graduate from MAI as critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident learners prepared to excel in any field.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a versatile and dynamic Social Studies teacher who can engage students across a range of abilities in the skills and habits of rigorous scholarship. This role centers on facilitating rich, inquiry-driven discussions in which students analyze diverse sources, wrestle with complex historical and contemporary questions, and construct thoughtful, evidence-based arguments. The ideal candidate will guide students in making meaningful connections between past and present, provide substantive feedback that deepens thinking through multiple drafts, and foster a classroom culture that values intellectual risk-taking, diverse perspectives, and confident engagement with ideas that matter. With a facilitator’s approach to instruction, the teacher will differentiate learning, design compelling experiences across core and elective courses, and support students as they grow into independent researchers, readers, writers, and critical thinkers prepared to navigate the complexities of the world.
What You Will Do
We are seeking an inspiring Social Studies teacher to lead engaging class sessions and facilitate discussions that guide students through complex concepts at both foundational and advanced levels. In this role, you will teach across traditional history courses and advanced electives, helping students make connections between past and present while developing their ability to construct evidence-based arguments. You will design inquiry-based projects that cultivate students’ skills as researchers, writers, and critical thinkers, engaging with both historical and contemporary topics, and provide thorough feedback to support their reasoning and personal growth. The role also involves mentoring students through one-on-one conferences and small-group work, leveraging technology and AI tools to personalise learning and enhance analytical and research capabilities. You will foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, intellectual risk-taking, and respect for diverse perspectives, while building meaningful partnerships with students and families to support each learner’s academic and personal development.
Who You Are
We are seeking an educator with deep content knowledge across social studies disciplines, who can facilitate nuanced discussions on complex historical and contemporary topics with intellectual honesty. You are skilled at guiding students to develop as writers and researchers, providing feedback that strengthens their ability to construct evidence-based arguments and think critically. You are comfortable leading student-driven inquiry, leveraging technology to support collaboration and agency, and take ownership of student success and well-being. You understand—or are eager to learn—the unique demands faced by student-athletes and can help them cultivate balance and resilience. You demonstrate humility by valuing relationships and collaboration, courage by facing challenges directly and taking thoughtful risks, and a commitment to lifelong learning through continual growth and innovation. You approach new challenges with sound judgment, adaptability, and curiosity, prioritizing student learning and growth in every decision.
