Position: Academic Intervention Specialist (Grades 6–12)
Location: Stow, Massachusetts, Masters Academy International
Start Date: August 1, 2026
Masters Academy International
Masters Academy International is New England’s only school that combines top-tier sports and academics to prepare future leaders who excel in athletics, academics, and life. At Masters Academy International, academics aren’t placed between training sessions—they are a vital part of developing an elite performer. We’ve created a curriculum that respects the demands of our athletes without sacrificing intellectual rigor. Students are challenged through engaging coursework, grounded in inquiry, which encourages healthy disagreement and debate and emphasizes quality over quantity.
MAI’s academic program aims to strike a balance between well-being and learning for our student-athletes, helping them develop not only knowledge but also the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their education and nurture the critical and creative thinking skills required to understand and solve global challenges. As a result, our students graduate from MAI as critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident learners prepared to excel in any field.
The Opportunity
This role provides targeted academic support to help students strengthen literacy and math skills while developing effective learning strategies. You will deliver one-on-one and small-group interventions, collaborate with teachers, and support students in flex spaces and academic labs to build confidence, independence, and academic habits. By working closely with faculty, administrative teams, and families, Academic Intervention Specialists ensure coordinated, responsive support that helps every student reach their full potential.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will provide targeted one-on-one and small-group interventions in literacy (reading comprehension, writing, critical analysis) and mathematics (numeracy, problem-solving, quantitative reasoning), using diagnostic assessments to identify skill gaps and design responsive plans. You will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to align support strategies with the core curriculum, manage flex spaces and academic labs, and provide Tier 2 interventions that reinforce classroom learning. You will monitor student progress through data and assessments, provide feedback to support both academic skills and learning strategies, and help foster a classroom culture of belonging, curiosity, and self-advocacy. Additionally, you will communicate proactively with students, families, and faculty to ensure every learner receives coordinated and meaningful support.
Who You Are
We are seeking a dedicated educator with several years of teaching experience and expertise in literacy and/or mathematics instruction and intervention strategies. You understand how to diagnose learning needs, design responsive interventions, and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs. You are eager to support student-athletes in developing balance and resilience, take ownership of student success and well-being, and embody humility, collaboration, and a growth mindset. Committed to lifelong learning and innovation, you approach challenges with courage, sound judgment, and adaptability, effectively prioritizing in a changing environment. You also use technology purposefully to enhance learning, collaboration, and communication.
