Sr. Storage Engineer 1 Week Contract in Catawba, SC! 2 days onsite, 2 days remote.
Our client is looking for a Sr. Storage Engineer for a short-term project. The project would be onsite April 1 & 2, then remote on April 6 & 7. The Sr. Storage Engineer would be responsible for the following duties.
Responsibility Model
- Onsite Professional Services are contracted to perform :
- Physical racking and cabling of PowerMax 2500 storage systems
- Installation of rails, trays, internal cabling, and hardware components
- Base array installation, configuration, and verification
- Delivery of asdeployed configuration documentation
- Sr. Storage engineer responsibilities are limited to review, validation, oversight, and integration support , not primary physical deployment or base configuration execute
Storage Deployment Oversight
- Review and validate storage system placement and deployment performed by onsite Professional Services.
- Validate that installation aligns with vendor standards and approved architecture.
- Provide oversight and validation of integration between storage, compute, and network components.
SAN Connectivity & Protocols
- Support review and validation of storage connectivity and integration, including SAN zoning.
- Validate host connectivity using the following protocols as defined by the approved design:
- iSCSI
- NVMe
- Validate endtoend SAN connectivity between hosts and storage arrays.
- Confirm host access and array visibility.
Storage Provisioning
- Provision storage for initial hosts (up to four hosts for PowerMax 2500).
- Create and configure:
- Storage groups
- Volumes
- Snapshot policies
- Associated protection settings
- Validate that array configuration aligns with approved design assumptions and licensed capabilities.
5. Local Data Protection
- Implement local data protection using TimeFinder SnapVX.
- Review and validate snapshot configuration and protection settings.
SRDF Replication (Including Metro)
- Review and validate SRDF replication configurations where applicable , including:
- SRDF/S
- SRDF/A
- SRDF/Metro
- Validate replication pair visibility and health.
- Confirm SRDF configuration aligns with the approved architecture.
- No responsibility for original SRDF architecture design or ownership beyond validation.
Storage Resource Pools
- Review and validate configuration of multiple Storage Resource Pools (SRPs) where included in the approved architecture.
NAS / File Services (If Included)
- Configure NAS/File Services only where included in the solution design, including:
- SMB
- NFS
- File replication
- Review and validate file services configuration.
Storage Management & Monitoring
- Review and validate installation and configuration of:
- Unisphere
- Embedded Service Enabler (ESE)
- Notification and alerting mechanisms
- Install and validate up to two ESRS Virtual Edition appliances, including ESRS Policy Manager.
- Enable and validate CloudIQ monitoring.
- Review and validate management interfaces, including:
- eMGMT interfaces
- eVASA IP interfaces
- External NTP services
