Job Summary
Seeking a Production Supervisor reporting to the Operations Manager, tasked with planning, scheduling, and executing production workflows in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
This role involves direct oversight of 30-40 team members, encompassing hiring, training, and performance evaluations, while cultivating leadership that builds teamwork and drives organizational success. Candidates must demonstrate robust Lean manufacturing expertise alongside practical familiarity with HVAC processes, brazing, charging, electrical and mechanical assembly, and testing procedures.
Duties & Tasks
- Guide daily priorities and tasks for team members via clear communication channels.
- Champion continuous improvement by eliminating defects through root cause investigations and corrective actions, while innovating processes for industry-leading standards.
- Set manufacturing team objectives, allocate resources effectively, and align with production demands.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to preempt product and tooling challenges.
- Leverage management and communication to form high-performing teams meeting daily targets.
- Track quality and output metrics, adapting plans to fulfill forecasts.
- Deliver scorecard metrics and routine daily/weekly reports.
- Oversee factory resources and equipment to adhere to schedules, reporting KPIs as needed.
- Enforce handbook policies equitably across all staff.
- Maintain EH&S standards for workplace safety and OSHA compliance.
- Assess direct reports' qualifications, evaluate training efficacy, and maintain qualification matrices.
- Handle additional duties as directed by leadership.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Strong communication across all organizational levels.
- Expertise in HVAC, assembly, wiring, and testing manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in manufacturing quality, product/process development.
- Understanding of warehousing and material flow optimization.
- Mastery of root cause analysis and corrective action techniques.
- Intermediate project management capabilities (advanced preferred).
- Intermediate Lean knowledge (advanced ideal) in TPM, 5S, and visual factory principles.
- Intermediate grasp of mechanical/electrical building systems.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and machining tools.
- Advanced EH&S and OSHA regulatory knowledge.
- Proven management and leadership background.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology preferred, with 10 years' experience.
- 5-10 years' supervisory experience preferred.
- Capacity to address and prioritize operational issues promptly.
- Skilled in engaging employees, vendors, and stakeholders with professionalism.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, presentation abilities, written communication, and organizational skills.
Work Environment
Performed in a manufacturing assembly and machining setting with frequent interaction across Assembly, Machining, Material Control, Quality, and Engineering. Utilizes computers, smartphones, and Oracle business software. Requires regular verbal communication, on-call availability, and physical presence.
