Overview

Cogent is looking for a Proposal Coordinator to join our Marketing & Sales Support team. As part of the Proposal team, the person will develop Cogent’s responses to RFPs/RFQs for IP, Ethernet and Data Center services in both the private and public sector in North America.

Compensation: [Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000/yr.

Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Work in close cooperation with Sales to identify and research viable RFP/RFQ opportunities, both in the private and public sector.
• Assess the feasibility of RFP/RFQ requirements, based on feedback from other departments (Engineering, Operations, Legal, Billing, etc.) and recommend which RFPs/RFQs to pursue.
• Manage the entire life-cycle of the RFP response process to meet strict deadlines.
• Work with Sales, Sales Engineering, Legal, and Operations to develop technical solutions and winning bid themes.
• Create proposal content, and draft proposals with accurate, concise, customer-focused responses, ensuring strict adherence to RFP/RFQ requirements.
• Handle the production and delivery of proposals, including printing, formatting, and execution of bid documents with strict attention to submission requirements.
• Be available for customer interaction during the RFP process, including follow-up questions, conference calls, meetings, upon Sales request.
• Report on opportunities and success rates.
• Update and edit proposal templates for various Cogent products.
• Complete vendor registrations and new supplier forms, with support from Legal and Billing.
  
  

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in English, Public Administration, Communications, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field, is a must, master’s degree is a plus
• Experience in proposal management and/or telecommunications services is a plus
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is a must
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines
• Knowledge of public sector procurement processes particularly in the education sector is a plus
  
  

This position is located at Cogent's Washington, DC Corporate Headquarters. This role requires the ability to work on-site five days per week.
