Job Summary
The Equipment Manager will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and operation of all construction equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to equipment management, ensuring that all machinery is in optimal working condition to support project timelines and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance: Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all construction equipment to ensure reliability and longevity
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, including usage, maintenance, and repair histories
- Procurement: Oversee the procurement of new equipment and parts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets safety regulations and standards, conducting regular inspections and audits
- Equipment Sales: Identify equipment for sale and sell as required for the best available price
- Equipment Repairs: Responsible for scheduling and coordinating equipment repairs with Operations management
- Equipment Utilization: Monitor equipment utilization and review monthly reports with accounting to ensure the equipment department is making money
- Equipment Rentals: Track all rental equipment, solicit from multiple dealers to get the best prices, schedule in/out dates with Operations Management
- Staff: Hire and train department staff as needed
- Policy: Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Equipment department
- Recommendations: Make recommendations for new or replacement equipment
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train equipment operators and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency
- Budget Management: Manage the equipment budget, including forecasting costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and service providers
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve equipment-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and project delays
- Proven experience as an Equipment Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry. Minimum of 9 years of experience required
- Strong knowledge of construction equipment, maintenance practices, and safety regulations
- Required experience with heavy machinery and specialized construction equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in inventory management software and tools
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate various types of construction equipment
