Front Office Accountant

Job Title: Front Office Accountant

Cogbill Construction, in Vidor TX, is looking for an accountant preferably with a 4-year degree in accounting, 2 year associate degree in accounting minimum with some years of experience. This is a full-time, permanent position, in-person at our main office in Vidor.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s (4-year) or Associate (2-year) degree in Accounting or similar (finance, economics, etc.) at an accredited university or college.
• Residing in southeast Texas, namely cities such as Vidor, Beaumont, Bridge City, Orange, Port Arthur, Groves, Nederland, Lumberton, Silsbee, etc.
• 3-4 years experience in accounting positions, less may be acceptable if the field of study is accounting
• 3 years experience in QuickBooks and MS Office, including Excel, less may be acceptable if the field of study is accounting
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Must be proactive and seek to assume greater responsibilities every day
• Energetic, strong willingness to learn, and have strong organization skills

Preferences:

• 4 -year degree in Accounting
• Advanced MS Excel and QuickBooks knowledge
• Knowledge in the construction and metal fabrication industries

Job Description:

• Billing: Accounts payable/receivable, follow up on client issues and questions regarding statements, etc.
• Payroll: timekeeping, weekly payroll, job reporting, etc.
• Bookkeeping duties: Reconciling and maintaining accounts, recording funding of 401k and other benefits programs, etc.
• Assisting with closing financial periods, generating reports, and preparing job-costing data.
• Multi-state tax filings (e.g., payroll, income, sales/use, excise).
• Entering and processing banking transactions.
• Performing and coordinating day-to-day operations: mail, filing, deposits, etc.
• Maintaining continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating needed actions to management, discovering irregularities, determining continuing needs, etc.
• Other duties and tasks as necessary.
