What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST - MT - Nights position at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Inc?
JOB DUTIES:
- Collect and prepare blood, urine, and tissue samples for analysis
- Examine collected samples and identify any cell abnormalities
- Perform clinical lab tests and report results
- Maintain laboratory inventory levels and, if necessary, place orders for new supplies
- Prepare detailed reports about test results and findings
- Document and review tested data
- Ensure all tissue samples are prepped for examination
- Collaborate with pathologist(s) and other medical specialists to determine the correct diagnosis if cell abnormalities are discovered
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
The Medical Technologist (MT) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
- Computer skills including MS Office, Outlook, Meditech, preferred
- Ability to work well in a team or independently, preferred
- Advanced knowledge of biology and chemistry
- Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry, required
- Medical Technologist (MT) Certification through ASCP or equivalent, required
- 2 years’ experience as a Medical Technician, preferred
