Job Summary

The Education Program Manager is a key leadership role within Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre's Musical Theatre Training Institute (MTTI), responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing educational programs that align with the theatre's mission to share the joy of professional musical theatre with the community and MTTI's mission to develop quality musical theatre talent for our stage and beyond.

This position manages a portfolio of initiatives, including workshops, school partnerships, community outreach programs, and adult and youth theatre activities, ensuring high-quality experiences that foster talent development for participants of all ages. The Program Manager collaborates with theatre staff, teaching artists, educators, and community partners to deliver impactful programming while supporting the strategic goals of MTTI.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development and Management

  • Design and implement innovative theatre education programs, such as in-school residencies, after-school workshops, summer camps, and community-based initiatives, tailored to diverse audiences (e.g., students in grades 5 and up, adults, underserved communities).
  • Develop curricula and program materials that align with skill development standards and the theatre's brand and artistic vision.
  • Oversee program logistics, including scheduling, budgeting, space allocation, and resource procurement.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and outcome metrics, and adjust offerings to maximize impact.

Team Leadership and Supervision

  • Recruit, train, and supervise teaching artists, program assistants, and volunteers to deliver high-quality educational experiences.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities for teaching artists to ensure consistency and excellence in program delivery.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that creates a space where everyone feels comfortable to learn, grow, and develop their skills.

Community and School Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand program reach and impact.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for school administrators, teachers, and community leaders to coordinate residencies, performances, and workshops.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new partnerships to enhance educational offerings and support underserved communities.

Administrative and Budget Oversight

  • Manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with funding requirements.
  • Assist in grant writing and reporting to secure and sustain funding for education programs, in collaboration with the development team.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participation data, and outcomes for internal reporting and external stakeholders.

Marketing and Outreach

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote education programs through digital platforms, print materials, and community events.
  • Develop outreach strategies to engage diverse audiences and increase participation in theatre education initiatives.
  • Represent the theatre at community events, education conferences, and networking opportunities to raise awareness of programs.

Other Duties

  • Supports the Executive Artistic Director in strategic planning and goal-setting for MTTI
  • Contribute to theatre-wide initiatives, such as festivals, special events, or productions, as needed.
  • Stay informed about trends in theatre education, arts integration, and community engagement to inform program innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the theatre's mission to share the joy of professional musical theatre with the community and MTTI's mission to develop quality musical theatre talent for our stage and beyond.

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in theatre, education, arts administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in theatre education, arts education, or program management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to design & deliver engaging, age-appropriate theatre education programs for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with schools, community partners, and internal teams.
  • Commitment to creating a space where everyone feels comfortable to learn, grow, and develop their skills in programming and team leadership.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and basic knowledge of database or CRM systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by program schedules.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for off-site programs.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in theatre, education, arts administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working with schools (grades 5 and up) and knowledge of skill development standards.
  • Background in grant writing or fundraising for arts education programs.
  • Familiarity with theatre production processes and the ability to integrate educational programs with mainstage productions.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds for setting up workshop spaces or transporting materials.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced office environment, as well as off-site locations such as schools and community centers.
  • Willingness to travel locally for program delivery and partnership meetings.
