Join our dynamic team as a Specimen Technician working the third shift, where your expertise in laboratory management and specimen processing will be vital to delivering accurate and timely results. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, processing, and handling biological specimens with precision and care, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures. Your contributions will support critical clinical and research laboratory operations, helping to advance healthcare outcomes and scientific discovery. Duties
- Collect, label, and process biological specimens using proper venipuncture, spinal tap, or other collection techniques while maintaining strict aseptic conditions
- Manage laboratory workflows by organizing specimen storage, tracking sample statuses, and ensuring timely processing in accordance with laboratory protocols
- Perform routine laboratory procedures including centrifugation, aliquoting, and preparation of samples for testing or research purposes
- Maintain detailed documentation of specimen collection and processing activities, adhering to medical terminology standards and laboratory management practices
- Support hospital or clinical staff by providing accurate specimen handling for specialized procedures such as cardiac catheterization or pediatric tests
- Ensure compliance with safety standards including basic life support protocols and proper disposal of biohazardous materials
- Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment, inventory supplies, and cleanliness to uphold a sterile environment conducive to precise testing
Requirements
- Proven experience in clinical or research laboratories with a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, veterinary terminology (if applicable), and hospital-based specimen collection methods
- Hands-on experience with venipuncture, phlebotomy, spinal taps, and catheterization procedures in diverse patient populations including pediatrics
- Familiarity with laboratory management systems and documentation practices to ensure accurate recordkeeping
- Ability to perform laboratory tasks independently during third shift hours while maintaining high attention to detail
- Basic life support certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire
- Strong communication skills combined with a proactive approach to safety and quality assurance in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
