Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care by performing physical examinations, vital signs assessments, and patient evaluations.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform catheterizations with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Assist with medical procedures such as wound suturing, tube feeding, and specimen collection/processing.
- Monitor patients' conditions closely, including airway management, ventilator support, and acute pain management strategies.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute or home & community care.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, medication administration, and nutrition.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience in diverse healthcare environments such as hospital medicine, ICU or Level I Trauma Center settings, emergency room experience, or medical-surgical units. Critical care experience including ventilator management and acute pain control is highly valued. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is essential for efficient documentation. Experience working with special populations—including geriatrics, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator care), patients with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs—is preferred. Knowledge of ICD-9/10 coding for medical documentation and familiarity with infection control practices are important assets. A strong foundation in physiology knowledge, patient assessment techniques, and medical terminology will support your success in this role.
