Who We’re Looking For:
The State of Michigan DTMB-DHHS is seeking two Software Solution Architects to support Rhapsody Health Integration Engine development and operations for MDHHS Health Services ESB (HESB). One more Development focused, and the other more operational / administration focus.
Duration: 1 Year (Beginning January, with possible extension)
Location: Hybrid – Lansing, MI (235 S Grand Ave)
Work Schedule: Hybrid – Onsite 2 days/week upon start (No remote-only option)
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and support integration solutions using the Health Rhapsody Integration Engine (7.x) for MDHHS Health Services ESB (HESB)
Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into system designs and integration specifications
Develop interfaces and workflows to support new and existing use cases
Create and maintain custom filters, mappers, and transformations using Rhapsody Developer Kit (RDK)
Perform message mapping and data translations between multiple formats, including:
HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3, FHIR, CDA/CCDA, XML, JSON, flat files, and proprietary formats
Develop and support SOAP, REST, and other web service integrations
Write, debug, and enhance JavaScript code using Rhapsody JavaScript (v1 and v2) filters
Develop and maintain database integrations with SQL Server and Oracle
Configure and support TCP, HTTP, LLP, OAuth connections in accordance with enterprise standards
Ensure secure message transport using TLS and certificate-based authentication
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including code fixes and enhancements
Perform routine Rhapsody maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning
Manage error queues, hold queues, and alerts; reprocess messages as needed
Support application and server maintenance, including patching, restarts, and version upgrades
Install, renew, and manage HESB and application certificates
Monitor and manage Rhapsody memory utilization and storage
Support code migration across environments and participate in release activities
Generate latency, response time, operational, and monthly status reports
Prepare and maintain SUITE SDLC documentation and participate in code reviews
Communicate effectively with internal teams, business analysts, and external partners
Provide application oversight and technical guidance to teams integrating with HESB
Ensure compliance with SEM/SUITE standards, data integrity requirements, and security policies
Qualifications:
Several years of hands-on experience with:
Health Rhapsody Integration Engine (7.x)
Rhapsody Developer Kit (RDK) for custom filters, mappers, and components
Custom message payload translation across multiple data formats
Web services and integration technologies (SOAP, REST, TCP, LLP, OAuth)
Transport encryption and security (TLS, mutual certificate authentication)
Strong programming and technical skills in:
JavaScript
SQL
XML
Extensive experience with healthcare interoperability standards, including:
HL7 v2.x
HL7 FHIR
CDA/CCDA
Working knowledge of healthcare vocabularies and code sets:
LOINC
SNOMED
RxNorm
Experience with Health Information Exchange (HIE) technologies
Familiarity with Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles
Experience implementing solutions based on industry and federal Implementation Guides
Ability to troubleshoot complex integration and production issues in enterprise environments
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
Experience working in large, complex enterprise or government environments preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Rhapsody Certification
Experience supporting enterprise ESB platforms in a healthcare setting
Prior experience with State or public-sector health systems
