Position Summary
The Technician III provides multi-tier technical support for DAIT’s distributed environment, including customer-facing applications, infrastructure, and services. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities. Responsibilities include supporting secure networking technologies, network/server infrastructure, and vendor-based Internet services. The position also involves desktop and application support, networking hardware, connectivity standards, and information security practices.
DAIT supports 71 county offices and 1,600 users statewide, providing network infrastructure and a mission-critical case management application (PROTECT).
Responsibilities
Serve as a point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance via phone, email, or ticketing system.
Perform remote and onsite support for network, server, and infrastructure equipment.
Manage support tickets, document work, and maintain customer communications.
Develop and update knowledge base articles and technical documentation.
Monitor and resolve connectivity, performance, and security issues.
Collaborate with technical teams to plan, install, maintain, and recover infrastructure.
Implement performance and security improvements based on feedback.
Audit system security for compliance with regulations and policies.
Maintain effective relationships with team members, customers, and vendors.
Qualifications
5–7 years of experience in a customer-facing, multi-tier technology support role.
Experience with support ticketing systems and documentation.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills for enterprise applications and systems.
Experience supporting networked environments, connectivity standards, and security.
Familiarity with remote support tools (screen sharing, voice, chat).
Ability to work independently during onsite visits and represent the State professionally.
Experience working on Agile project teams.
Knowledge of legacy and modern technologies, enterprise-level system design, automation, deployment, security, virtualization, and network communications.
Experience with inventory management, vendor relations, and project management.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to meet State of Wisconsin fleet car rental requirements.
Up to 20% travel within Wisconsin (expenses reimbursed).
This position requires successful completion of a fingerprinted criminal background check.
