Job Summary
Do you have construction or home inspection knowledge? Do you like a change-of-pace every day you go to work instead of the same thing? Codes Assessment Professionals (CAP) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Codes Enforcement Officer. This vital role ensures compliance with local codes and ordinances, helping to maintain safety, health, and quality of life in our communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical site visits for compliance with municipal codes, zoning regulations, ordinances, rental inspections and building permits.
- Investigate complaints related to code violations, including housing standards, signage, and property maintenance.
- Issue notices of violation and work with property owners to resolve issues.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports and records of inspections and enforcement actions.
- Collaborate with other city departments and legal counsel as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education or certifications in a related field preferred).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, word, excel, etc.
- Experience in code enforcement, zoning, home inspections, construction, permitting or a related field is a plus (or entry level with a willingness to learn on the job).
- Knowledge of local codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with the public and local elected officials.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and remain professional in challenging situations.
- Obtain Building Code Official (BCO) certification and/or applicable certification trainings related to duties and responsibilities as determined by the Managing Director within six (6) months of hire.
